Visakhapatnam: It’s official now. IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which received the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet’s approval for land allotment at the posh Rushikonda hills here as an anchor investor on the lines of Gujarat, which gave land to Tata Motors to establish Nano car manufacturing unit at Sanand at 99 paise, will launch its operations at the iconic Millennium Towers soon till it develops its development center.

In GO:MS No. 7 issued on April 21, 2025, IT, Electronics & Communications Department said 21.6 acres has been allotted to TCS on Hill No. 3 of Rushikonda to set up a development center with an investment of Rs1,370 crore to create employment for 12,000 after the approval by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB).

According to the GO, TCS had submitted a proposal and informed that the company is a leading IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization with over 56 years of experience. Part of the Tata group, TCS employs over 601,000 consultants in 55 countries and generated $29.1 billion in revenue for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.

TCS operates in numerous locations across India with over 110 premises and ongoing expansion.

The GO signed by ITEC Department Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni stated that TCS is establishing a delivery center in Millenium Towers. This new center will have a capacity of over 2,000 seats and will operate under a leased model. As part of our long-term growth strategy in AP, TCS is on the lookout for suitable land to build a campus within the next 5 to 6 years. TCS has requested the government for land parcels in Vizag for 20-25 acres. The GO stated that APIIC had identified 21.16 acres of land parcels at IT Hill No.3, in Visakhapatnam for the allotment to TCS for establishment of IT campus with an investment Rs1,370 crore and employment potential for 12,000 persons.

AP churns out a vast pool of science and engineering graduates annually, who could cater to the rising demand in the IT sector, which is projected to generate five lakh new jobs by 2029.
